The Lufthansa Gift Voucher is an offer from Deutsche Lufthansa Aktiengesellschaft, Venloer Straße 151-153, 50672 Cologne, Germany (hereinafter referred to as "Lufthansa"). The gift voucher is a value voucher offered on Lufthansa.com. These Lufthansa General Terms and Conditions apply to contracts for the purchase of gift vouchers on the Internet.
Customers who accept this offer (hereinafter referred to as "users") have the option of redeeming the value for the subsequent booking of a flight and selected additional services on Lufthansa.com.
These Terms of Use apply to the use of the voucher. In addition to these Terms of Use, Lufthansa's General Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage always apply.
Gift vouchers can only be purchased via Lufthansa.com. Gift vouchers are not issued via ticket offices, ticket counters or travel agencies.
By ordering a gift voucher, the user submits a binding offer to conclude a contract, which requires acceptance by Lufthansa. Lufthansa accepts the offer by sending an e-mail confirmation to the e-mail address provided by the customer during the order process.
Payment for a gift voucher is made via a credit card that is accepted by Lufthansa. As soon as Lufthansa has received the full payment, a confirmation will be sent to the e-mail address provided during the order process. The e-mail will contain a PDF file including the voucher code.
The gift vouchers are issued in euros.
The customer has the right to revoke the gift voucher within 14 days without giving reasons. This period begins upon receipt of the confirmation e-mail by which the contract was concluded. The revocation can be completed via this contact form.
To meet the deadline, it is sufficient to send the cancellation before the deadline expires. However, the right of cancellation also expires before the end of the 14-day period as soon as the gift voucher has been redeemed, even if only partially.
If the cancellation is asserted, the services received must be returned or surrendered. In the event of cancellation of the gift voucher, Lufthansa will invalidate the voucher code on the gift voucher and refund the value of the gift voucher.
Gift vouchers can only be redeemed for flight bookings made on Lufthansa.com. The gift voucher can only be redeemed directly at the time of booking and cannot be subsequently offset. Up to three gift vouchers can be redeemed for one booking.
Unless otherwise stated on the gift voucher, the gift voucher is valid from the date of issue until the end of the year of issue and thereafter for a further three years (e.g. date of issue 21 August 2021 valid until 31 December 2024).
The gift voucher may not be sold. The gift voucher is not name-bound. The holder of the gift voucher therefore does not have to be the passenger of the ticket to be purchased.
If the credit balance of the gift voucher exceeds the purchase price of the ticket, the remaining credit can be used for further purchases within the validity of the gift voucher.
If the credit balance of the gift voucher is not sufficient for the complete purchase of a new flight, the missing amount can be paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express) during the flight booking.
The gift voucher can only be used for bookings of flights with a Lufthansa flight number (e.g. LH123).
Once the gift voucher has been used, its amount is reduced by the value used.
If tickets paid for with a gift voucher are cancelled in accordance with the statutory or tariff conditions and submitted for reimbursement, the reimbursement value will be transferred back to the gift voucher.
To protect against misuse, it is recommended that the gift voucher is kept out of the reach of third parties. As the gift vouchers are not personalised, all that is required to redeem a gift voucher is knowledge of the voucher code. In particular, if a gift voucher is passed on, the previous holder can continue to make use of the voucher code.
The value of gift vouchers cannot be refunded in cash. The provisions in section 4 remain unaffected by this.
Lufthansa's liability for damages to users is excluded insofar as the damage is based on slight negligence. This does not apply if a duty has been violated, which the contract is intended to provide for by its nature and purpose or whose fulfillment enables the proper execution of the contract and users may regularly rely on its compliance. To the extent that Lufthansa is liable in principle, the claim for damages is limited to the contract-typical and foreseeable damage (value of the determined service).
The limitations of liability do not apply in cases of injury to life, body, or health, in cases of gross negligence or intent on the part of Lufthansa's employees, agents, or legal representatives, as well as in cases of legally prescribed liability without fault or in cases of assumed guarantees.
Lufthansa assumes no liability for incorrect information provided during registration or voucher purchase on Lufthansa.com, which are not attributable to Lufthansa, such as typographical errors, for example, in the email address. Lufthansa does not issue replacement vouchers in particular.
Lufthansa is not liable for damages to the customer resulting from a third party making bookings unlawfully by providing the correct voucher code.
If you have any questions about the voucher, you can always contact the Lufthansa Service Center
These terms and conditions and all legal relationships between users and Lufthansa are subject exclusively to German law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, unless another national law is mandatorily applicable.
